If there’s one thing I hate, it’s being separated- physically separated- from the ones you love. This especially holds true for families of overseas workers. It’s so heartbreaking to see families sending off their loved ones at the airport, with nary a dry eye in sight.
About two years ago, I experienced that kind of pain when one of my closest and dearest friends had to leave for Bahrain to work. I was miserable even before she actually left, because I knew I was going to miss her so bad. I was no longer going to have a shopping and eating buddy. I knew for a fact that she was going to leave a void which no one or nothing could fill. Or so I thought…
Weeks after she got settled in Bahrain, we got to chatting over the internet. And she mentioned about starting to play iGame fast poker online. At first, I thought the idea of playing online poker was pathetic, but when she brought up the idea of us playing online together, then that got my motor running.
So now, whenever we have time on our hands, we go online together and play poker. It proves to fill that void, as I feel as if she is just right next to me when we play. She’s lives alone in Bahrain, so playing online poker with me helps a great deal in cheering her up.
So it seems, the internet can bring people closer together despite physical distance. It spans oceans and time zones and eases the homesick heart.
